We developed the wireframes and final prototype in Figma. Multiple iterations were created to ensure that our final design adhered to UI guidelines (such as accessibility and 8-bit spacing).

The high-fidelity mockup illustrates the applications main features: 1) the onboarding and login process, 2) a services home page, displaying various listings, 3) in-app messaging, 4) creating and publishing listings, and 5) the user profile

Scoby: Mobile Time-Banking

Solution

Your Time. Your Community. Your Exchange.

Scoby is an app that facilitates community time-banking, a system where people exchange services based on time, rather than money. Whether you need tutoring, dog walking, or simply a helping hand with errands, Scoby makes it easy for users to trade their skills and services.

Users earn credits by helping others and can use these credits to receive assistance in return. By eliminating monetary value, Scoby promotes a mutual ethos that cultivates the values that make us human: empathy, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Goodwin & Cahn: Unmet Needs and Unused Capacities

"[Time banks] enable human beings for whom the market economy has no use to redefine themselves as contributors, and they give society a way to value activities that the market economy does not.

Rice Designathon Prompt

"How might we stay human in the age of artificial intelligence?"

Scoby

A mobile app centered on the concept of time-banking, Scoby aims to "ferment" community growth by exchanging skills and services with the currency of human connection, rather than monetary compensation.
